Fibonacci Formula (VIDEO!)

The sequence of Fibonacci numbers begins 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, ….
What’s the 100th Fibonacci number? What is the 587th Fibonacci number? Is there a general formula for the Nth Fibonacci number? YES!

In this video we use the quadratic formula, some basic properties of exponents, and a tiny system of equations to derive a general formula for the Fibonacci numbers. (WARNING: This is a little advanced and assumes one is familiar with these concepts and able to fill in details on one’s own.)
